Of course it would. Jesus told someone to pick up his bed and walk, and the patient promptly did. As a therapeutic approach, it doesn't seem to work that well in less skilled hands. I'm coping with depression - it doesn't make me miserable, but it does impair my motivation. If I did build the oscillator, it would be evidence that the depression had abated. I've now got two samples of the inductor and have almost completed two samples of the transformer, but then I had a relapse.

He's afraid to reach that stage, and confirm that it's all BS.

Not in the least. It's certainly not BS. The distortion levels may not be a low as the simulation suggests, but that's something we've had in mind from the start.

Job suggestion: the customer base is people in the scientific instrument business. Look for smallish companies that are doing well in some difficult field. The function is to research journals, appnotes, and competitive products for them. Your background in pchem, electronics, and journals is ideal. An ideal client would be a company run by scientists who aren't especially good at electronics.

I have a guy who does stuff like this for me. He has a kid that needs a lot of attention, so he wants to stay home as much as possible. When I have an interesting idea that I don't have time to explore, or want to get my competitors manuals and pricing, or need some part research, I go to him. I encourage my guys to offload stuff to him, too. I may ask him to research streak tubes and cameras, for example. We may use him for some design and VHDL soon too.

Smart people can think and plan their way out of mild depression. That may include seeing a (good) shrink, it might include finding something fun to do.

Shrinks are useless at treating mild depression, and rarely helpful withe serious depression.

I'm migrating from the Netherlands to Australia in six weeks. There's no problem to find things to do. Finding time for fun things isn't actually an option.
