I'll believe it when I see it. So far, I'm not thrilled with the color of "white" LEDs. I haven't even seen a flashlight that I like; certainly not one that holds a "candle" to a krypton bulb.

Better, for sure. I certainly hold more promise for LEDs that I do CFLs, though. Meanwhile I added a couple hundred more clear bulbs to my stash yesterday.

I was planing on using an existing table lamp with the parts mounted inside the head of the lamp. Used table lamps are about $2 each at garage sales.The LEDs would mount on a circular piece of copper PC board as a heat sink. Not sure of the optics, might have to experiment with the placement of the leds for best result lighting a table. The power supply would be a switching wall-wart type, maybe 20 watt, also obtainable at swap meets or sales for $5 or less.
