I guess there's no pizza in Thailand.. :( I'm sure Hawaii will have pizza. I read that Tahiti has a McDonalds.

In fact, those allegations were never proven.

I suppose Sri Lanka might be an interesting vacation spot, now that they are maybe done with the civil war finally.

The Philippines has Shakey's.

Yum.

Someone doing what he was allegedly doing in Sri Lanka would not have been breaking any laws anywhere until after the mid 1990s (when he would have been in his eighties anyhow), so there was a civil lawsuit involved it could not have been tested legally.

His private diaries are sealed until 2038, so it will be a while to see what they say.

I don't see many of the Tamil refugees heading back...

It's true - you have to make your own pizzas, but they do have tomatoes and cheese and something very much like pepperoni. :-)

And in the US, it's either a right-wing extremist or a left-wing extremist, depending on who's doing the talking. ;-)

Chasing women is supposed to be easy in Thailand. You'll get laid for sure but I'm not sure if it will make you happy in the long run.

Be careful you're not hooking up with a Khautouy. ;-)

Unless, of course that's your thing, not that there's anything wrong with that.

Snake? No thanks!

You can buy pizza everywhere.

Most Asian countries have McDonalds. And KFC.

Checked it and nothing less then tiny mini skirts. But anything wearing a skirt in Chang Mai is definitely *not* a girl.

Nope. "Red ant eggs", including larvae and pupae. The larvae look just like puffed rice, and the pupae look like adult ants, but white with big black eyes.

I'd like to try some snake meat some time, just to see if it really "tastes like chicken." ;-)

Hope This Helps! Rich

I got dysentery in Thailand--had some curry that smelled--no kidding-- like the sewage that ran through that market's open gutters.

Fortunately Dad was handy. (Dad was stationed in Bangkok, researching diarrheal disease). His two big tips:

  1. Those pink remedies (tablets &/or liquid) that contain bismuth? They're *magic*. They don't cure, but they instantly neutralize the toxins the invaders are making to upset your gut. Instant relief. 2. _First_ thing when you go some strange place, gooble a cup of the local yogurt. It'll give you a good dose of the local friendly bugs, in balance, and give you decent protection against the ones that, while not necessarily nasty, are new to you, and might cause some temporary distress.

I've tried #2 in a number of countries, to great effect.
