They feel cheated if the ipod significantly outlasts the warranty period.

Especially, when technology goes backwards..... The current generation of cellphones, seem totally to have dropped the option for an external aerial. Now I sometims have to visit test sites that are perhaps at the end of long tracks, in the middle of nowhere. Back in the early cellphone days, I had the highest power phone you could get, with the best antenna. Now I have a 3 year old Nokia, with a really good external antenna, and can get coverage, everywhere I have tried (even down narrow 'gorges', next to rivers etc.). The modern 'third generation' cellphone, looses coverage a few hundred yards up the track... The same is true of the 'digital radio', being pushed over here in the UK, with FM, I can get some reception in most places. It may be broken a little at times, but it works. The digital radio, even with a god antenna, fails to maintain full 'on the move' coverage, even round the M25. The sound quality, which is supposed to be better, on most stations is far worse (topack more channels in, most a using much lower bandwidth, than is necessary for the high quality signal...). The problem is of course, that 'marketting', is trying to make the most money from the users, and provided the can keep the majority happy, the few that loose out, suffer. :-(

much.

No, it is not.

Yep.

They have no desire to find out, if you ask me.

Thanks, Frank. (remove \'q\' and \'.invalid\' when replying by email)

What are find funny are some of the external antennas that are only plastic pull out kinds, no metal. They are fake, just giving the user some weird sense of "better".

Wall Street and the EU?!?! what the hell are you talking about, r u 'tarded?

You're suggesting they want to incinerate discarded electronics too ?

Graham

I'm dissapointed to hear that. Part of the 'raisdon d'etre' for digital radio initially was improved coverage !

Graham

Do incinerators want to burn abandoned electronics too ? Under WEEE, electronics are meant to be properly disposed of at end of life anyway.

Graham

I'm afraid to say even with my typing error of a 'god antenna', it certainly does not give improved coverage, and this in a part of the country where there are a large number of transmitters in operation...

Wherabouts is that ?

I recall many years ago an item on tv showing how much better it was in the Sussex Downs IIRC where FM typically fades in and out. I suppose it was too much to hope that it would actually deliver ?

It's compressed audio data too a la mp3.

Graham

A hill in Essex. Can actually receive 11 transmitters, one less than a mile away, yet just down the road, cannot get good coverage...

I'm afraid so.

The 'annoying' thing, is that Texas, actually have a chip that offers a much better system. Uses the AM band, and includes significant error recovery. However DAB, is to my mind an acronym for CRAP...

Yea, the stuff they can't get out by presorting. (Or in the US, where they don't believe in presorting because it "costs too much", ie. impacts profits).

A few years back there was quite a bit of noise about the disposable cellphone. Just throw it in the trash when the account runs out. (After London and Madrid, I suspect that a lot of folks don't think anonymous cellphones are a good idea anymore).

You're an idiot. List for us, the brands and models of cell phones with extendable antennas where the antenna is a dummy.

I think we are going to find that it is you that is the dummy.

Unlike convenience stores which may have a fake security camera installed in the store, all cell phones with antennas have REAL, fully functional antennas in them.

Just remember, the ones you THINK are plastic are likely a strand of hard stainless wire with a plastic cladding on it.

Roy,

Previous posts have ALREADY proven you to be a cum-drunk cockaholic. No need to keep promoting yourself as such.

Oh, by the way, IIRC, it was a Samsung. NO connection to the plastic antenna, not even transformer coupling at the mount, no metal at the base end of all plastic whip. Inside the phone was an internal antenna. I would wonder why they needed an internal antenna if the whip was functional?

But Roy, you are still gay and in the closet. Thats why you rant so in posts, the frustration of your secret lifestyle!

You're an idiot, and your remarks prove you to be an immature adolescent twit, at best, you retarded f*ck.

Gay lames are for ten year old mentalities, boy.

Didn't I see you claiming to be an engineer a few posts ago? Yeah, right. You really grasped your education... sure.

You're about as mature as a freshly laid pile of stool, boy.

Try responding to what was actually said to you, you retarded f*ck.

Give us a list of cell phones that have fake antennas.

Otherwise shut your retarded uneducated pie hole up, you E-1 grade pussy.

I think this is a case of you flirting with me.

This is more proof that you are an idiot. The secrets being told by your remarks here are about you, dumbass. Quite telling as well.
