A "friend" gave me an emerson dvd/vcr combo player that works fine EXCEPT it won't eject the dvd. It will close the drawer fine if it is open and it can be opened manually from inside the machine and then it will respond to command to close. I have looked for some sort of sensor that reads the drawer closed assuming if it doesn't know it is closed it won't open but I can't see any. Any ideas?

you have a driver ic that has gone south or look for a puffy cap near the ic just follow the wires that go to the loading motor and you will fid the ic it might have a small heat fin on it
