uclinux on any DIP/pin processor ?

hello group,

quick question. is there a DIP/pin type processor out there that will run uclinux ? i wanted to experiment with it (uclinux) but i wanted to start simple with a processor i could solder in the traditional way. tall order these days i know since all the "real processors" are pretty much surface mount. i don't think any of the pic processors will run uclinux, but are there others that will ? if i could get ethernet up and running with it that would be a huge bonus.

thanks in advance.

MC68000 or MC68010? Actually, probably also the MC68008. Of course, adding ROM, RAM and bus interface logic is left as an exercise for the reader.

How enthusiastic and dedicated are you? Many, MANY older laser printers used the 68000 or even more frequently the 68008.

There are no DIP40 pinout compatible single chip IC that would uClinux capable, in the matter of fact all single chip IC that are directly linux capable are to my knowledge MCM (multi chip modules)

but DIP40 pinout compatible modules that can run either

MicroBlaze uclinux or PPC-Linux (or LEON/SPARC linux)

are available from

CPU module which has BGA ARM9 CPU+ Flash + Ethernet PHY but uses normal 2 mm headers for connection to a baseboard. I can be mounted on a 1-2 layer PCB using headers
