So did you pay the guy at the news stand with a card? Did he punch your card?

Remids me of the Dilbert where Wally took credit for copying some files to diskette.

"I uploaded 1.4 MB of data to offsite storage."

About as out of touch as the Guardian's crossword setter- last week, the definition part of one clue 'computer equipment' yielded the answer 'card reader'.

Paul Burke

from comp DSP

"Im working with DSP for a school project."

How out of touch are you?

Serious error. All shortcuts have disappeared. Screen. Mind. Both are blank.

Presuming this "school" is not a primary or so, and also considering a DSP evaluation kit is in the order of 150Euro, this is doable. Don't forget, a PIC or so is not so to say, bragable. A DSP is much more eye catching in a description of the diploma work for whatever degree.

Who's setting the Guardian's x-words these days? Is it still Fidelio?

"What is now proved was once only imagin'd." - William Blake, 1793.

There's a whole bunch of them. Paul (no relation) is about the hardest at the moment, Araucaria chunters on but we haven't had a rhyming alphabetic jigsaw for quite some time now, Crispa retired a couple of weeks ago.Bunthorne, Gordius, the list goes on, somebody just explain to me why you put analgesics in your MOUTH?

Paul Burke

Don't mention the PIC, at least be vague about it and refer to it as a RISC controller ;)

Thanks, Frank. (remove 'q' and 'invalid' when replying by email)

and handcrafted in assembler, not C of course

....and do you know how the punched cards got to be the size they were? Answer: When Herman Hollerith explained the concept, he pulled out a dollar bill from his wallet and then proceded to point out how rows and columns of holes could be used for encoding data (he did not damage the dollar bill, tho). "But" you say...and i answer that the dollar bill then was larger; called by some a "horse blanket".

I got a mention in the acknowledgements of:

for supplying the CD burner neded to send the manuscript to the publisher.

I even supplied the media. ;-) ...but didn't get a copy. :-

Has Wally ever "done" anything?

That's the most euphemistic description of software piracy I've ever heard...
