Even with massive subsidies, Tesla keeps losing money. Minus $180e6 in one recent quarter.

It should be gone by the end of the obozo term.

As usual, you spout numbers you don't understand. A startup company often looses money and for quite some time. Have you looked at their balance sheet to see why they are losing money? They paid off a half billion dollar loan and reported a profit in May 2013. They are selling more cars since then, so obviously they are losing money because of their continuing ramp up of production and investment.

The truly amazing thing about Tesla is that their cars are remarkable as electric cars, but just as much so as simply cars. I see an interesting article, "Aston Martin is working on an electric supercar with double the horsepower of its gas-powered cars." In that article they say, "Audi, Mercedes, and Porsche have all announced their intentions to have electric vehicles on the road by the end of the decade."

I also see this, "The decision significantly raises VW?s profile in a coming electric-car collision at the end of the decade, when the world?s major carmakers are expected to introduce numerous electric models with lower price points and much better performance than those currently available." I like that, an "electric-car collision" from so many new entries to the market. That means lower prices and lots more charging stations available when on longer trips. With ranges of "156 to 312 miles" electrics can go mainstream.

Better yet will be driver-less cars that open up enormous markets that are not predicated on owning the car you use. It will be much more feasible to share autos rather than own them either through structures like car rentals, or taxi services or possibly even something like public transport. Just as driving to work is becoming obsolete, driving as we know it may become obsolete.
