He did calculations, but it's about a year ago he told me. I only know I was suprised with the calculation he gave, but don't remember the exact numbers.

I guess he made a coupled system, so the fan only turns when the motor turns. A heat sensor on the motor might work as well.

Feel free to provide any evidence that contradicts that which you describe as "data". It isn't possible to refute a point by holding on to poorly conceived conspiracy theories and resorting to label-pinning/name calling.

There are quite a lot of solar power plants which generate over 20MW. Spain alone has a dozen or so solar plants which generate around 100 MW. That means that you can still rely on "the grid" to get your supply.

Focussing only on domestic generators, it depends, really. If you need to provide energy for media centers, desktop computers, multiple kitchen appliances, air conditioners and assorted gadgets then it's quite possible that lining your roof with photovoltaic panels won't be enough to generate all the power that you will need. In this case a domestic solar generator will be a nice way to cut down on your power bill but you will still depend on the power company.

On the other hand, if we are talking about a "off the grid" case then your power needs will be considerably less than the typical power needs of a typical urban household. In this case it's possible to get your power from domestic solar power generators.

Ignoring the effects of increasing the CO2 levels on the atmosphere, surely you know that burning fossil fuel outputs more than CO2, right?
