I don't drink beer. I haven't even had a taste of it in 36 years. Also, beer in a very hot climate can dehydrate you. I'm type 2 diabetic and already have enough problems with that.

Why waste a prefectly good 'chute on a mere student? Do you have any idea how much trouble it is to repair and repack a 'chute? ;-)
The power plant at Greely was several large diesel power generators. At one time there was a nuclear power plant o the base, but it was decommissioned before I got there. There wasn't much waste heat for the power plant so the used fuel oil for the boilers.

We were out of boot camp. Everybody had to do another 8 weeks in ITR (infantry training regiment). Sort of like boot camp but we got the weekends off. A lot of fast (forced) marching through the hills, crawling through the mud, and other stuff. One guy shot himself and we all went to the memorial service.

Was it an accident, or he couldn't handle the stress of bootcamp?
My Basic Training was 6.8 weeks, compressed from the previous cycle's
8.6 weeks. No training was cut, they used tractor tailers with subwy rails nd hangers, and a few seats to rush you form class to class, when there wasn't time to march. A lot of days we didn't get back to the barracks till after midnight. I tested out of the three year broadcast engineering school while in Basic, so a few days after Basic, I was transfered to Ft. Rucker's flight school where they trained Army medivac pilots and Air Force ATCs to work with them.We didn't get a day off until near the end of Basic, and a lot of the base was off limits to us.
The waste heat must be greater than the electricity generated (

The waste heat from the diesel generators barely heated the power plant building. The power EE was in my unit, and he hated everything about the place. I know a disbled veteran who lives a couple blocks from here who did the same job. He said that he walked away from anything to do with electricity or electronics after he left the service. What a waste, getting an EE degree, then never using it after leaving the military.

One of my brothers did the same thing. He got his EE degree and went into management (of a power company). ;-)

It doesn't go very far when it's -40 outside. On days like that I had to wear thermal underwear and cold weather gear inside the TV station. I would roll my chair to the main transmitter for the little extra heat it provided.
You didn't read?
Going on a highway which seems to be a death end road isn't an appreciable effect too.
Besides, I used the word something, because I can't/won't say what other people have to do. Somebody who lives on the 13th floor in Manhatten-New York is in a totally different situation as the ones who are living in the middle of the Amazon-Brasil. Things aren't that easy.
You call me progresive? OK, but I'm just myself, out of the system.
Sure, you can't stand on top of a vulcano without a bottle of oxygen. But that's no reason to go on with poisoning our environment
We also found dead penguins on Antarctica, poisoned with DDT. Nobody did use DDT on the Antarctic.
Is trowing bombs on your nuclear powerplants a good option? Very cheap solution. power-plant
Without thinking there won't be much development. It would be better if you start to think too.
Some researchers found DDT in dead penguins on the South Pole.
Please check this out:
was almost killed by Methyl Bromide a few years ago. It was used in a container which was sending food form China to Europe. One of my colleagues have a permanent brain-damage and a defected nerve scheme, just because nobody knew the danger of Methyl Bromide.
DDT was the cause of death?
You mean the climate is static?
Look who is calling somebody childish!
No, never heard of MSM!

You understand everything, how great.
Take a look at China, they don't live in Liberty, but their development is getting faster. They just do the same thing as the USA. Liberty is absolute no factor in this issue. Possibillities are!
Sure, I'm bad all over.

I understand leftists. BTW, condescension noted.
Utter nonsense.
Yes, leftists are.
Of course I don't believe in my "prime minister".
Yeah, sometimes they are a little far to the right.
What a stupid question. Not unexpected, but stupid.
We agree on something. You're welcome.
It was about an eight of the total energy, but as mentioned before, I have no specs. I haven't seen it myself, but he just told me ones.
I don't think so, normally he is very accurate. I'm not an expert in electronics, I just use schemes of others to build my stuff. If I have a problem with one of the schemes, I go to him, he is well known in our neighbourhood for calculations and has an electronic parts shop.
Not exactly, I've seen many brand new fridgerators without a fan. In Europe It seems to be normal.
But he claimed to make it more efficient with a very small investment.
The term "kludge up" is new to me. ;-)
"The quantities of DDT in the penguins aren?t large enough to harm the birds, but its continued presence shows just how long the chemical stays in the environment, says Heidi Geisz, a researcher who helped with the penguin study. "
DDT did not kill the penguins they were not poisoned by DDT.

bad assumption, based on "data" edited by those who profit from AGW.
but not really,as you still depend on the grid for when solar doesn't supply enough.
emitting CO2 is not "poisoning" our environment.
no,that's from AERIAL spraying, which was the problem. ground spraying has been found to not be a problem.
but you would burn wood for heat. Me,I'd rather get it from nuclear energy;safe, clean, plentiful.
it's now against "international law" to bomb hydro dams or nuclear powerplants.
I have thought about it,considered the facts and *practicality*,compared to lowering lifestyles. Nuclear wins over solar, hands down.
