Both sound to me discordant to me in only slightly different ways. Same for 10:/7 ratio.
2 to the 6th (6 octaves up) times 2 to to the 1/6 (semitone on equal temperament) times 5 is 359.19.UNRELATED - I like "equal temper scale" modified towards nice ratios, and especially towards oddball rational ratios *mostly additional* such as:
9/10 - "Just minor 7th" octave down 10/11 - "sharpish / 'subneutral' minor 7th" octave down 11/12 - "neutral 7th" octave down (a bit wierdish) 15/16 - "true major 7th octave down" (slightly flat to equal temp.) 10/9 - "minor 2nd" 6/5 - the true minor 3rd (sharper than equal temper minor 3rd) 40/33 - "overcorrectly-by-2-sharp minor 3rd" / "subneutral 3rd" 11/9 - "Neutral 3rd" (a bit wierdish) 5/4 - the true major 3rd (flatter than equal temper major 3rd) 40/27 - the "flattened 5th"(In addition to the 4/3 4th and the 3/2 5th)
Can anyone here say, "Classic Rock" or similarly Blues-related music?

Has anybody ever simulated the sound of fingernails on a chalkboard in a chip or for an alarm?
Do you remember Larry Fast and "Synergy" or Gentle Giant? Peter Gabriel?
If your posts made a sound they would likely match something along those lines.

Oh Archie!
And like a fly to shit, scat-boy makes a landing... :)
It can be easily done in analog. Here are the schematics of an old drum machine whose cymbals sections uses some oscillators from a 4069 tuned to reproduce a metallic sound, paired with white noise to emulate cymbals. Played loud and without the fast decay it can be really annoying.
Oh, so you need a human, then the lady coworker on the phone from the movie above is the right person for the project (can't find a youtube video for that scene, sorry). I'd have said a lawyer is even better but I'm not sure lawyers are human beings:)
Probably yes. A bit more complicated than analog but would work. In the pre-digital era most dissonant instruments were synthesized that way, including very convincing bells for example.

Perhaps only usefull if you have an hf radio in the lab, but I used the sound of mffsk transmissions on shortwave as it reminded me of the brainwashing sound in the Ipcress File movie. You get selective fading between the various parts of the signal, which gives it a sort of flanging sound. Pretty wierd I guess, but just leave the phone next to the radio speaker and see how long it takes them to hang up.
"You will forget all you ever knew about the ipcress file", etc etc :-)...
Regards,
Chris
I consider this less unpleasant than female Siamese cats in heat, squawking toddlers, uncontrollably crying babies, and bad heavy metal ballads.

I suppose everyone should try to better themselves.
Then there are several failures on this group, and they go by a a 150 or more phony names.
