I'm replacing the soffits on my house, so I put up some scaffolding. I also covered the open soffit area with some heavy wire mesh to keep the birds from nesting in there while I work (slowly). The other night, I heard an awful racket out there - a raccoon was perched precariously, hind feet on the scaffolding, front feet on the house, lifting the mesh at a joint where I had assumed it was stiff enough to stop the birds. Smart little bastard. Maybe the birds promised him some eggs.
