Ummmm- according to first hand accounts as published by the U.S. Naval Inst itute, the Israeli torpedo boats pulled up close to the Liberty so as to ad dress the captain over a PA system. That's what would be called a positive identification. Hobbs is coming across as an idiot.

In the context, I think my statement was so clearly humorous that I didn't bother with a smiley.

I condemn (hate, if you like) the bigotry, not the bigots themselves.

(Of course, while I aim for that as an ideal, I'm just as human as everyone else and sometime will fail to make the distinction.)

The liberty was spying on them in accordance with LBJ's policy of preventing Israel from defending itself at a time when its continued existence was in doubt.

If almost any other people in the world had one third of their population killed, and they formed a new government soon after, they would make it a military government. But even at the worst possible time the Jews wouldn't consider having anything but a democracy. Not all our allies have our core values, and very few have proven them as strongly as that.
