Poor logic. Fancy op amps have an infinite number of applications, while the 4046 and its variants are pretty specialised parts.

If my intention had been to insult Jim, it would have been a pathetic

- since I was merely spelling out how Jim falls short of his aspirations,it was simply descriptive. Jim is a competent journeyman circuit designer, not a master like Barry Gilbert or Bob Widlar, and not close enough to having mastered his craft be able to realise this.

Just curious, would you describe yourself as a journeyman circuit designer, a master, or something else?

He's an Amateur 'Baiter'.

Its too bad that he's too damn old to trade in under the 'Cash for Clunkers' program. He gets zero miles per gallon.

Something else. I do perfectly competent circuit design, but it is an incidental skill - like vacuum-line glass blowing - that I've acquired in order to solve problems with scientific instruments. In the places that I've worked where there have been a bunch of circuit designers, I've always been one of the better designers, rarely the best.

Jim posted that he did, convincingly IMO. (A contact he knew in the local FBI field office IIRC?). It was quite a few years ago but I still remember since I was shocked too at the time.

IMO it's bad both because of any possible real-world effect on Bill (unlikely I guess), and because this sort of thing pollutes any FBI "list" to the point of uselessness, perhaps allowing actual real bad guys to slip through.

To me it's the same principle as the view that a false rape report is a worse act than the actual reported crime, because a single instance throws into doubt all the genuine ones...

Happily, I've only got Jim's word for it, but he seems to be convinced that he did it.

Slowman is anti-American, is he not? If we let him enter the US Obama would give him unemployment benefits for life, and make him Minister of Propaganda :-(

I'm always pleased to note that I'm the highest standard for Slowman's disdain, but please don't feed the jerk. Let him die that most unpleasant of deaths... alone ;-)

Surely people are not reported just for being "anti-american" (whatever that is supposed to mean)? That's most of the world recently! You're going to need a bigger list...

"*dangerously* anti-american" to me implies terrorism or some such, at least in the context is being reported to the FBI. Of course I don't know exactly what was said.

I suspect you would call everyone who voted Democrat "dangerously anti-american" - I assume you are diligently working your way through reporting them too? :)

His primary achievement has been in confusing the public mind, as between the internal and the external threats ......

We must not confuse dissent with disloyalty.

We must remember always that accusation is not proof and that conviction depends upon evidence and due process of law.

We will not walk in fear, one of another.

We will not be driven by fear into an age of unreason, if we dig deep in our history and our doctrine, and remember that we are not descended from fearful men. [...]

We proclaim ourselves, as indeed we are, the defenders of freedom, wherever it continues to exist in the world, but we cannot defend freedom abroad by deserting it at home.

The actions of the junior Senator from Wisconsin have caused alarm and dismay amongst our allies abroad, and given considerable comfort to our enemies.

And whose fault is that? Not really his. He didn't create this situation of fear; he merely exploited it ? and rather successfully.

For every Joseph R. McCarthy there is an Edward R. Murrow.

Somebody should get a description of his car and make an anonymous call to Homeland Security to report that you'd seen one matching its description in front of a suspected terrorist enclave.

Cheers! Rich
