This is an unmoderated USENET newsgroup. If you don't like USENET, don't use it.
Since you're a Google Grouper, and since Google couldn't have a more spam- friendly set of policies if they tried, perhaps you could take the time to send a letter of complaint to as many folks as you can find in Google.
Mention that because of the high level of spam you're going to find a real newsreader and start using it like a real USENET participant, which means their ad traffic will drop off by your iota's worth.

I never saw the "John's" original post...

There is no moderator. This is a USENET newsgroup, not some googlish website.
You need to call your ISP, and get the name of their news server, and use a real news client, whether thunderbird, netscrape, Pan, whatever - but UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES use Butthook Distress.
Cheers! Rich
Paul... Just curious, how does a moderator handle these problems? Warren
SED isn't a moderated group. If it were, all post requests must pass thru a moderator who approves, or declines to post the message.
If everyone agrees, I can be moderator... then there certainly won't be anymore leftist weenie problems ;-)

We had the last moderator shot so now nobody wants the job.
Are you volunteering?

There is NO moderator.
In a moderated group, even YOU would not be allowed to post until your were invited to do so by the moderator. There is no such entity in most Usenet news groups.
So:
Get OFF the web page access, and get a NEWS CLIENT. That is a piece of software. Use google to search for and choose a NEWS READER application. There are many free products available.
Then, tie into a REAL NEWS SERVER, not that stupid web accessed google method. Set up your news reader, and then you can filter any messages you wish.
Those, of course, are the suggestions for the complainant.
To be a moderator, you have to start out being moderate. I nominate Woodgate.

Or we can send people over to Guy Macon's group...does it still exist?

So you're offering to get shot?
I vote Thompson! :-)

That'd work. I note that he's still alive and well on the LTspice forum.
The problem here is that rarely does anyone post anything that's truly a circuit QUESTION. And I certainly don't feel compelled to dump circuits out here, playing professor, but which no one will understand.

I vote Sloman! :-)
Phil or AlwaysWrong might be OK also :-)

Correct.
Not entirely true. I've posted to moderated groups uninvited. As long as I didn't violate the group's charters and kept my posts on topic, it was difficult to tell it was moderated. But each moderator has their own style.
There are still moderated Usenet groups (accessed with genuine news readers).

My encounters with Jim Thompson's circuits (long before I knew he existed) filled me with a desire to use other people's implementations of the same ideas - the MC4024 and MC4044 made me an enthusiast for the 4046, while the MC1495 and MC1496 made me a life-long fan of Barry Gilbert's analog multipliers.
Linus Pauling was that kind of professor - he almost solved a number of important problems, but his solutions were never 100% correct, nor close enough to be all that useful.

He'd have to moderate those ghastly puns.

So the odds are that he will shoot himself, conveniently closing the loop.

Better than Jim Thompson at any rate. Neither Phil nor AlwaysWrong has yet to tell the FBI that one of the regular posters is dangerously anti-American - Jim Thompson would seem to be further out of touch with reality than either Phil or AlwaysWrong.

There are several moderated groups you cannot post to at all. Try to post a newgroup request to the appropriate group. We all want a binary group to post spreadsheet templates to so we can get help with them when needed. No luck, however. The posts never show up... ever.
