There are plenty of people who think we should have pushed the Russians back to Russia. That would have been another disaster tho. In real life they kept a cap on a lot of crazy bastards for 40 years. Imagine what would have happened if we had just walked away from the Bulkans in 1945. The biggest mistake of the post war years was in letting the jewish refugees invade Palistine. We should have just carved them out a state in Germany or gave them an island in the Pacific. It would have been cheaper if we had just bought them Rhode Island.

I do want to make noted that Reagan and his supporters in both houses of Congress exercised the rarely-exercised "Federal Veto" (my words, differing from wording to the same effect in US Constitution) allowed by US Constitution upon local legislation of the District of Columbia.
This event was performed during the Reagan Administration to "veto" (my words) Washington DC's repeal of their sodomy law.
Also note that the Reagan Administration was all in favor of, and likely the driving force behind, forfeiture of property suspected to have been used in illegal drug trade. Owners of siezed property have to sue in federal court and adequately provide a preponderance of evidence that they are innocent to get their property back.
Oh, it surely appears to me that in the US Supreme Court case on allowability of forbidding dancing, Reagan appointees supported the upholding of a dancing ban like the one in the "Footloose" movie!

I have heard enough of a proposal to make a new Jewish main-Jewish-state out of a big enough island in the Indian Ocean, Madascar.
As I heard that, the Jews refused Madascar. Meanwhile, how much more right to the "Palestine" area do Moslems have than Jews have?
Why should in/about 1949 should have Arabs/Moslems lost an independent Palestine nation to Israel and also to Jordan in a war that the Arabs started?

The way I have been told by friends that I have in Canada:
Canada has a Parliament and a Prime Minister, but also a "Governor General" that can "veto" (my word) any and all Canadian legislation, and the "Governor General" is appointed by the British Crown.
Canada's governing ruling party makes a recommendation or a request for the British Crown in terms of hiring the "Governor General", and it has been told to me that the Crown follows these recommendations/requests.
It appears to me that Canada is nearly enough an independent nation, and England is avoiding any motivation to have a last vestige of Canada being part of the British Empire being severed.
Oh, and how many British colonies were in existence in North America in

I think the UN should take over the Holy Land and operate it as a religious park, open to anyone but with no "owner". As for the rights the jews asserted in 1948 it was more akin to Hitler annexing the Czechoslovakia or the Sudetenland than anything else.
