Panasonic TV Model PVQ-2512 with problems

I wanted to know what causes the tv to have a blue line across the screen with just the tv on and when I put a a tape or cd in it works fine? Can someone tell me what is wrong?

Sounds like a fault with the TV tuner.

Do you get a picture as well as the blue line or just the blue line?

Do you use the AV input for the tape/DVD? Try using the TV channel output from the player and go into the aerial input of the TV. It sounds like you aren't getting any output from the tuner. Try an auto-tune on one of the blank channels in the tuner setup and see if that works. It may have just reset itself (if you're really lucky......).

Sounds like the tuner is bust.

Yes on a regular (not integrated set) I would suggest a fault in the vertical scanning circuit.

I suspect that this model isn't just equivalent to a seperate DVD player and TV in one box. Some duplication of circuit function has probably been eliminated so the boundary between the two sections is blured. The two video sources may not be mixed in the same way that occurs when they are seperate.
