why ?

Have you ever noticed if you have something out of the ordinary for tools that is very usefull, and one day when you get ready to use your little tool that you know you once had and can't find it.

This seems to happen a lot when working with others that like your accessories and tools more than you do..

For example, today, I looked hard high and low for my HV scope probe "2KV 200 Mhz 100x", not only did I find that missing, I also couldn't find my 1 ghz active fet probes for my Tek which were in the same place btw.. I have my suspicions but I won't go there. In any case, I now have to purchase at least a new set of

2kv probes that most likely will do a houdini act once some one gets their eyes on it.

Yeah, that's "normal".

An especially risky environment.

I box mine up, and carry my toolcase with me. in my case it wasn't a problem to do that, because I HAD to carry the toolcase, and when I was benched, I was always there anyway. Yes, I strongly guard my Super Duper RS232 breakout box against this type of theft.

Doesn't stop them from asking to "borrow" it though. And that one day borrow becomes a one week keep. From then on, no borrowing at all for any reason.

Today, now that it's become quite a rare animal, I DARE them to come ask for my Super Duper RS232 breakout box. Because I'll say no. And when they complain, I'll say HA, that's right, HA I say.

Now if you'll excuse me, it's time for my meds again.

I tried making one of those... I soon discovered the 1/2W, 10M resistors in my bin don't weather much over 500V though. Fucking burned out the top decade in my scope's attenuator! :'( I have a couple 10M wirewounds, some

2" long, but they're impossible to compensate properly... you just can't distribute capacitance along that length right.

A way to avoid your stuff being "borrowed" is to add fake "faulty" labels on them. Be as creative with the label wording as you please.

This is absolutely right. I retired some years ago, and live alone, and my former coworkers still raid my house while I'm sleeping, because stuff keeps on disappearing.

Little known fact, but tools have the ability to morph. If you need a philips screwdriver all the drivers in your tool stash morph into slot drive types. Uncanny how they do that.

Make them leave their driver's license, and let them have it back when they're done with the box. ;-)

I've seen this done with game control boxes in a bar, and it works

100%. :-) (they ain't leaving without their license!)

Why not? That's probably the most logical place to look.

That's a nice thought John how ever, i'm in a place with management that has no brains and don't care. They would just as soon cut those things off as they like to tell me where to go.

Hmm, You seem to be paying a lot of attention to my tool?

Is there something you're not telling us?

With all the limp dick waving you do, it's impossible to ignore. That is usually a sign of a blowhard trying his best to cover up his "Shortcomings'.

No, but you have something to tell me: You still haven't told me when you are coming to Florida to carry out your threat to push me down a flight of stairs, "Slinky Boy'.

Unfortunately, this was a field-technician role, and holding their licences meant they couldn't go out and do the job, thus made the borrowing of said box a moot point.

Probably not a bad thing, now that I think about it...

Talking about some one coming up short!

You must be getting old timers disease, I never included your name in that comment how ever, I do remember the comment being made and who made it and it wasn't me.

To bad your mind is slipping away that you can't recall that.

Guess I have nothing to worry about :)

Why don't you go stick your head in a tub of water for a while. You have absolutely no personally what so ever!

I can picture you sitting in the back corner of a party doing nothing but badgering every one that's enjoying them self's. You must be a real joy at a party! I bet they try to leave you home!.

My bottom footer message fits you well.
