Fiddling with the header doesn't make the thread noticeably more intelligible. Phil Allison does seem to indulge in this habit, but his motivation does seem to be to take advantage of all the space accessible for personal abuse.
Do you own development work. You might consult "The Art of Electronics" by Horowitz and Hill for the "new" stuff you seem to have failed to pick up since the NE555 first hit the market. The second edition was published in 1989, but would appear to cover stuff that you haven't yet mastered.
