Some libs are annoyed that Dominion "sold out" by settling with Fox, that's dumb. They're not regulators and they speak the same language Murdoch speaks (and probably the only one his ilk understands) - cold hard cash.
$787 million is a nice windfall for a firm with annual revenues of only just shy of 20.
Good day for the domestic hardware design/manufacture industry. Bad day for MAGA News Network and dopey talking heads/media moguls.
Not exactly. Most people can tell the difference between nonsense that is designed to make them feel good, and reliable information that they can trust. Those that can't are gullible, and can be flattered into making all kinds of stupid and self-destructive mistakes, like voting for Donald Trump or Ron DeSantis.
My reaction is always to wonder why I'm being flattered and what they might be trying to sucker me into doing.
That would be fine if the guidance they offered was constructive. Reassuring confused and ignorant people that Donald Trump mendacious claims that he'd won the election were to be taken seriously isn't constructive guidance - it's making a bad situation worse. It keeps their audience numbers up, but that's committing fraud for profit.
Fox News staff do seem to be huckster salespeople. The people who vote fro the likes of Trump and DeSantis do deserve what they get, but the rest of us don't.
The defects of the US political system do have consequences outside of the USA, in the same way that the even worse defects of the Russian political system have consequences outside Russia, mainly in the Ukraine at the moment, but not just in the Ukraine.
And Putin did help get Trump elected in 2016. The US really does need to get it's political act together. But please don't send Rupert Murdoch back to Australia. He was a menace when he lived here, but he got worse in England - where Margaret Thatcher has a lot of answer for - and got even worse when he finally moved to the US. You had a chance to reign him in in 1995. but "the FCC ruled in Murdoch's favour, stating that his ownership of Fox was in the best interests of the public" which has to be one of the least well-informed judgments ever.
