Reagan was a modest actor whose talents were adequate to let him play a pre sidential role. The people who put him in the job had enough sense to hire decent speechwriters to give him, adequate lines to deliver. They couldn't stop his wife from organising astrologers to give him advice, but since his job was merely to look like a president this didn't really matter. Trump was less well-supported.
