In addition to the inordinate replication rate and virulence, the Delta causes infected cells to fuse into multicell clumps called syncytia which help in two ways: increased replication and immune response evasion. Syncytia are also very damaging to the underlying tissue and function- this damage is for life. Actually Delta is not a single variant, it is a small family of variants. And youth is not an advantage at all. Anyone who even begins to believe that infection is a form of natural immunization is beyond belief ignorant.
