Oh well. Even if I could watch US political debates from where I am I wouldn't. The ones here are amusing enough, when I can get arsed to sit still long enough to follow them.
They do seem to be better organized, though. The moderator has power to shut down anyone getting too far out of line, like taking up much longer than the alloted time or trying to shout down the other. Since they'd "lose face" by that they usually keep in line.
The fun part is the debaters. Both sides avoid replying to detailed questions, spending the time-slot pointing out why the opponent is no good. As a result we end up choosing not "the better" but the "least bad", if that makes any sense.
At least in print they're obliged to make sense of their propositions. Not counting the fringe crazies they all sound pretty similar.

So the "home boys" are actually the ones with the real power?
"The disappointed look on Rummy's face when they didn't materialize was hilarious."

And your proof would be?
..
I do get the impression you interpret any expression of doubt about US superiority and wisdom in everything as destructive, and over-react accordingly. If the other party also over-reacts, well, how long is this thread by now?
GWB's popularity is at an all-time low, last I looked. Maybe it's time to fire him.

Actually W's popularity is rising sharply. Pay attention ;-)

The Dems get a lot of credit for that. If they came up with a non-lunatic, non-Clinton, non-shopworn alternative, W wouldn't look so good by comparison.
2008 should be interesting.John

The two nutcases who spoke at the UN did immeasurable damage to the Dems... it was terribly amusing watching Charlie Rangel dance the sidestep ;-)

The terrorists love him - he's their biggest recruiter!

I'm still free to say it's bunkum though.
I don't have any brand of 'God' btw.

Yes, it looks like Google cropped it. Append "ory?coll=la-home-headlines", or, here's attempt at fooling Google: add http://www to the following:

"Bush and GOP Making Gains Among Voters The turnaround is a sign that the election battle in November could be fierce. But history shows Democrats remain poised to claim seats. By Ronald Brownstein, Times Staff Writer September 21, 2006"
Cheers, James Arthur
At some point you have to stop being against everything and propose credible alternatives. That Democrats haven't offered any is doing the country a great disservice--the Republicans need a worthy counterbalance.
The Democrats just need to be _for_ something, then explain why and how they plan on doing it. Mere kvetching doesn't get the job done.
Now that Harry Belafonte and Hugo Chavez have taken up the Democrat's main hobby of attacking the President, maybe some of them will be freed up enough to offer civil, sensible solutions to real problems. I
*really* wish they would.Best regards, James Arthur
I figured it would be the Baptists down here ;-)
The Dems do seem to have a problem there. They have had two shining stars in 55 years (JFK and Clinton).
