This website discusses downloading (yet another) program to disable WGA:
My question: can one accomplish the same thing by making an entry in the HOSTS file (Win2k and above: C:\\windows\\system32\\drivers\\etc \\hosts) ?
If so, does anyone know the IP address that the WGA program phones home to?

Simply putting microsoft.com's IP address in HOSTS wouldn't be sufficient, would it? 207.46.232.182
