Shure has a couple of part numbers for these; 31A1857 and

31B1770 are 'lock nuts'. Maybe they'll sell in bulk?

, of course.

I think it was used for the hardline connectors on CATV equipment, as well.

That's sort of the problem.

We got several thousand six pin chassis mount connectors, but only half of them have the mounting nut included.

We'll probably flush the nutless half unless we can find a super cheap source.

BTW - We now have the ultra hard-to-find 1/4-40 miniature switch nuts up separately on eBay and now include them with all appropriate switches.

Why do you keep buying stuff when half of it is missing?

The exceptionally higher return on the good items.

Counting every miniature nut in a 28 foot U-Haul trailer can be counterproductive.

Also, personal value added can be exceptionally high by, say, finding an obscure source of panel nuts.

Don, I cross-posted this to r.c.m 'cause the chances that someone there will know

a) where to get these; and

b) you

are relatively high.

Aren't these also used on some electronic controls, toggle switches, pots, etc.

15/32 - 32 is a more common larger toggle switch sie.

5/8-27 is also used on surveyor's tripods.

MSC has a tap that size, for $50. I'd drill out 9/16" nuts and thread them on my lathe but not in quantity for $0.05 each.

Cheap Video Cookbook helped me design my first computer.

Does everyone remember when Don asked here (at least twice) about those nuts? And how he got many replies with pointers to sources? Now we see the result... he is selling them on eBay for 25c each. That's just... irritating.

I'd suggest that if you know where to find this new size of nut, don't give him the information for free.

I wouldn't find it irritating if he did at least post back letting everyone know the source he ended up using -- at that point anyone could do the same thing, and I see nothing wrong with him buying a bunch to sell on eBay.

I guess that you're pissed off about the money he made writing books that started a lot of people into electronics. Unless you need gobs of those nuts what the hell difference does it make? If EVERYONE had your pissy attitude, the would be no posts on these newsgroups.

Right, that's my point... he didn't and won't share the information he collected.
