Sony DAT Recorder DTC-1000ES No Function

I have a sony dat recorder dtc1000es that shows no life at all when switched on but all the power supply voltages read ok. There is nothing on the display and the eject button does nothing. In response to a tip on the euras database i changed all the 10uF caps on the drum pcb but still nothing. Have checked that all the boards seem to be getting power (the psu voltages are only marked on the psu board). Am a bit mystified - could this be a dew sensor problem? - no sign of and obvious dew sensor. Any help would be appreciated - thanks.

Is there a tape inside and its gone into protect mode? The multi-pole magnet motors in these are notorious for failing in a characteristic way

Checking the outputs from the power supply again i could not seem to see a power on reset pulse on the reset line on my scope (its a pretty basic model but i should be able to see a reset). There were two more

10uF 16v caps in the power on reset circuit on the psu board and they had gone open. Replaced them and the thing powered up normally . The uP was waiting for a power on reset i reckon - anyway seems fine now . Thanks for your help - Neilish.
