Small problem with a 37" LCD TV..

Panasonic TV when used on Freeview

Shows small white lines at top of screen only on the left of screen and only half way, sort of looks like the Teletext lines that can be seen on normal TV's, But these are static

This is not all the time seems to be a scan height problem as the picture is not really full screen.

So how does it behave when trying it with a different set top box?

Or with different 'forced' aspect ratios ? I have never seen any setting for 'height' in the CRT traditional sense. It simply isn't a valid adjustment for a signal processed and stored digitally for display on a digital LCD panel.

You can get some odd dots though on some channels. One particular mainstream channel that I watch via Sky satellite, displays a single white pixel at each corner of the plasma display. That's a Pan, as well. No other channel does this ...

My guess it's not a problem with the TV.

It has a built in Tuner.

More or less fixed it by setting Overscan on.

But it seems that the Digital transmissions are leaving WSS in them, Wide Screen Signaling and its not being fully blanked.

Here is what it looks like and this is from a Tuner Card seems to be a bit common here..

There are a couple channels on Time Warner in north east Ohio that exhibit the same unblanked signaling. I can adjust the position of my HDTV screen so the lines are not visible.
