Problem with new TV - anyone know what the problem is?

Oct 30, 2007 6 Replies

It's a 50 something inch rear projection TV (about 5 years old) and we get the audio fine, but there are three lines across the screen and no video (red, blue, and greenish yellow). Sometimes we can see a little of the image and somtimes the lines get bigger or smaller. Is this dead or not, and if not, is it likely to be expensive to fix?

Thanks in advance.

brand, model, and chassis would help!

Does it use CRTs? It sounds as if the Service switch (if there is one) has accidentally been moved.

If it has defective parts and can be serviced in-home it could cost you a few hundred dollars. I could see you getting into $200 + parts pretty easy.

Not enough (all middle-high end RCA sets of that era say that), but maybe enough to say dump it (RCA, 5 years old).
