Panasonic DVD/VCR won't power on

My in-laws have a Panasonic PV-D4734S DVD/VCR. Was working fine, but just quit. I opened it up, and the fuse was blown. I replaced the fuse, it doesn't blow now, but neither will the unit power up. I've measured 110VAC as far as the fuse, but no further.

Are there any common problems that affect these? If not, can anyone recommend a good place to get a schematic and/or service manual?

I'm moderately capable with electronics (I repair vintage portable organs as a hobby), but don't have much experience repairing these newfangled "disposable" things. Seems like a lot of hassle to pull it all apart to access the underside of the board for tracing and testing the circuit, but I figured I'd give it a shot before throwing it away.

If it has a switch mode power supply that may have lunched. I hate combination units.
