OLD Hitachi C28P510S TV problem

Hi,

Thick white line in the centre of the screen, the rest is black. No sound, no reaction from R/C. Anyone an idea? Before, turning off and on helped, but now it doesn't anymore.

Thanks ICE

Probable defect on one of the two deflection circuits, power supply circuits, and maybe even the audio circuits. Definitive diagnostic results will provide us more information so we can attempt a cure for your very generic symptom.

Well how are you going to repair this TV if you dont have clue as to what you are doing.

Thanks for that answer, that really helps. Please don't even bother to post such answers, you would be doing everyone a big favour. I know some basics and that should be enough to resolder an IC or replace a blown capacitor or something like that. Often TV's show common fault, so maybe somebody could tell me what to do.... What I meant is that I'm not a specialist. If I would, I would fix it without any help!!

well have you checked the soldering round the vertical IC? look for an open resistor /bad cap before suspecting blown IC.

I have read the posting ...!! Now if he does not have a clue , best for him to take it in to a shop and get an estimate. That's the intelligent way for him to do it. Unless you have the Magic Ball out and ready to go .

Yes, we the internet people can just use our crystal ball to diagnose whats wrong. Mine is telling me right now - Ice you need to replace C43, R212, and resolder pin 20 on IC02. That will fix your problem. Also, the rear main seal on your engine is about to go. There is also a rubber seal your bathroom tap that is starting to dry up - Replace it, the part number is #092-3233 and its available for $1.99 from Home Deport. Also your daughter has the clap.
