I have a Quantum "Fireball" 1.2GB HDD that went bad. I got a message regarding a problem with the "controller". I swapped the controller (same controller) from a similar HDD and I still get the same message.
I am trying to recover some files on the HDD. Could a hardware fault cause a controller error message?
