printer quality gives a line inbetween the words, cutting though every printed line, even if the ribbon is new. i have tried cleaning the head with spirit but the problems persists

Check printhead for pin stuck, ribbon cable damaged or problem with printhead driver circuitry. I would think that a printer of this age will have a stuck pin in the printhead.
