lowest cost - low pin count flash 8-bit microcontroller

Dec 14, 2009 3 Replies

I need to control an RF transmitter IC, through a SPI port.

It looks like the PIC12F508/509 is the ~lowest cost 8-bit Flash microcontroller available. Digikey show this at $.78 for one and $.55 in volume.

Is there any similar controller that costs less ?

thanks, -steve

For example the ATTiny45. The low pin versions are available in SOIC8 and DIL-8. They run at 1.8V up to 5.5V and have max. 20 MIPS at 20 MHz.

Mouser has 10f200 at $0.49/ea. They're 8-bit Flash.

Go with Microchip.

I use MPLAB IDE 8.46, C18 C compiler, and ICD3 as programmer/debugger.
