Can anyone recommend a low pin count 8051 derivative with a comprehensive timer architecture. i.e. at least 1 16 bit timer with at least 1 capture and
1 compare register together with auto reload features for capture and compare. Thanks Sean

In the small pincount families, look at Silicon LabsC8051F3xx series, which all have the Std PCA Timer structure.
Also, Philips LPC93x have a PLL on the Counter/Timer, so it can run faster than the core, for more precise timing.

also atmel 2051 20 pins 2 timers
I should have also included the SABC868 from infineon, 28 pin device with advanced CCOMP with 25ns time resolve.
