here you might want to take a look at Elinos / SysGo. I attended a
speech of theirs. Very impressive.

hi,

my company has bought the "old" version of elinos...
[question: when comes the new version ???]

i currently use a radio link with a Picom Tellink System.

it runs but now (with a lot help from other users)
after the changeover it is a "real" linux system...

who is interested in radio link connections:
