Hi,
I have several signals in my design which are outputs that is they are connected to output pin symbols in my schematic top level file.
BUT these several output signals are NOT assigned to PINS.
Does the compiler (QuartusII) remove these "unused" signals or are they preserved?

If you look in the pin-out file (under Compilation Report / Fitter) I think you will find Quartus has allocated them to pins for you.
