color organ for bass

Ok so i been lookin all over the net for a lot of stuff related to this. This is what im tryin to do: Hook a light bulb to my stereo so that it lights up to the beats or bass.

Now i dont want 3 channels, just one so i thought of this schematic...

Here come the newb questions... How do i modify this schematic so i only get one channel? And where the heck do i get an 8ohm to 5k ohm transformer, anyway? I got this T106D1 SCR, will it work? Thanks in advance...

I don't think that schematic will do what you want exactly. I would also recommend doing it at line level not tapping into the speaker outputs. I would try an extreme low pass filter fed to a comparator, this will(should) convert bass drum thumps to usable pulses, then feed that to an optocoupler with a triac output then to a bigger triac to drive a 110v light bulb. The problem with the circuit you referenced is that the "filters" aren't very precise (narrow) so if you just want to trigger on bass thumps it probably won't work very well i.e. the bulb will flash on sounds other than the bass beat.
