Where can I find geeks?

Nov 12, 2006 54 Replies

Hi I hope this doesn't sound weird but Im single and would really like to meet geeky guys. I use the term 'geek' in a positive light. I like guys who are intelligent, caring and down to earth. Most geeks are into all things computing, don't really go out much and may even be socially inept. Thats ok with me because most of these types of guys are really loyal, caring, romantic , unmaterialistic and are generally really nice guys once you get to know them. But my only problem is that I don't know where I can meet someone like that. Th internet is an obvious place to start but where on the internet do i go?

I would really appreciate it, if anyone can shed some light on the issue.

Thanks

Daria

Wow!

Does that mean you know how to cook proper?

Bugger off chaps, I'm chatting this one up.......

Any University engineering department. Although I'd stay away from the Civil Engineers... they're not... um, geeky enough.

Recommend: Chemical Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Computer Engineers...

Good luck...

Really intelligent men prefer really intelligent women. Start from that point of view.

Your version stands in contrast to the stereotype:

Maybe not so much "meet", but this is supposed to be the top percentile for smarts:

and these are nerd hangouts where you are free to participate.

You might even submit your question there (to a larger, perhaps more diverse audience):

Daria, dear, get a ham radio license, then join a repeater club. Now don't blame me if those guys are too geeky, or as some prefer, ham sexy.

I really suggest not meeting people on the internet if you are really looking for a geek. Geeks don't put ads on Craigslist, well, at least no personal ads.

Geeks can be located by following the scent of unflossed teeth, but you have to stay away from Chinatown or you'll get disoriented.

The geeks are all at the circus. Look for the huge bloody pile of dead, headless chickens. Nerds, on the other hand?

Hmm, most geeks are single and with damn good reason.

I know a guy teaching himself .NET programming - he needs to learn to take a bath more often. Another guy can write software as fast as he can type but is a rude fat arrogant twat. A guy upstairs has nauseating halitosis.

Hmm, she's not exactly going for the alpha males is she? Sounds not likely to be an alpha female herself.

There's a lot of Thai women willing to shag the pasty-faced western guys that nobody else would, with good incomes in return for a passport (by marriage) and half their wealth when the passport becomes permanent and they get a divorce.

Go for it DNA! The OP is using the same ISP as you.

Gads, Mark! What do you get when you breed two geeks ?:-)

Obviously, Daria hasn't tried to get between a nerd and his HP RPN calculator or his dual-core processor.

That is NOT funny. You apparently have no first-hand experience with a child with Autism. I do... I have a grandson who is severely Autistic, yet smart as a tack, and good with animals... the only child in his special needs school who can horseback ride by himself.

I'm not laughing - too close to home in my circles also. But the correlation has been documented.

I've never heard of such a correlation. Please provide a citation. Thanks!

Exactly. My wife works with autistic kids and their parents, and she's noted this for some years now.
