VHF Digital Divider

Please forgive my incipient senility; I know I posted this question a year or so ago and can't find the thread anywhere, either in my own archive or Google's archive.



Back when I was doing a fair amount of frequency synthesizer work I used the Motorola MC12015-16-17 for a lot of my prescaling tasks. Those devices are no longer in production. Right now I don't need dual modulus (pulse swallow) but could certainly use a dualie and just tie modulus control hard.



Does anybody still make a VHF/UHF prescaler these days? Through-hole preferred but SMT acceptable.

NEC make a bunch, good for 1-3GHz, but IIRC they don't work below a fairly high minimum frequency (IIRC, ~1GHz for some of the 3GHz units). I doubt there's anything from them that isn't SMT, and fine pitch at that.

That stuff went to ON semi, which still advertises some 1.1GHz prescalers. Dunno if they'd work at lower frequencies.

For VHF you could almost use a CPLD, but you'd have to do a lot of signal conditioning to get a clean clock in.

And they made excellent mixers but unfortunately it seems they went under. When the last order bell was rung I quickly bought a stash of SL6440.
