Hi. I am looking for a very small SMT slide switch SPST. I see the manufacturers of the SMP DIP switches have them in the 1 position size, but I can't find where to buy one. I only want a few - 10 at most. Jameco has the 2 position, but not 1 position. Thanks Harvey

Bourns makes a surface-mount SPDT switch that looks just like a 4mm trimpot. Actually, it is a trimpot minus the resistance element, 7814 series I think.
Just last week I tested a surfmount trimpot for use as a switch, and it looks very good, if the "leakage" resistance doesn't bother the circuit. There was a comfortable end-of-rotation angle on both ends that was essentially zero ohms.
I guess you could actually use the resistance...

Right angle; nice.

Yabbut, that's a _rotary_ switch - Harvey asked for a "slide" switch. ;-)

What do you think of these?

I saw about three on that page, in the right-hand column, but they're DPST and SPDT and DPDT, so you probably wouldn't save much.
By the way, please bottom-post: it preserves the flow of the thread.
Thanks! Rich
