You know this is not true, but you insist on using false numbers that you have made up.

Your gasoline costs are actually $0.13 + $0.26 or $0.39 per mile when the expendable auto is factored in. $40,000 over 150,000 miles. Likely the cost is higher when you trade in earlier and use a smaller fraction of the auto life.

Motor per wheel requires more CV or U joints and weight. Not the best idea unless you want 4 wheel drive which most don't need or want.

Hardly. Try breathing the auto exhaust. It's still very deadly. If all the cars were replaced by electric today much of our air pollution would be well within limits. The Feds are still pushing to lower the air pollution in the cities.

They are worried that reduced use of coal will lower their tax base, so they are building it up on wind power.

I should have said, "what isn't taxed?" rather than where isn't "electricity taxed?"

Where is the $0.13 (gas cost) coming from? Typical new vehicles get 30 to 40 MPG and even for California gas ($3), it's less than $0.10 per mile.

One of John's posts mentions figures you can calculate a cost of fuel per mile and I got around $0.13/mile for his car. I think he stomps on the accelerator a lot and he talks about the many hills in San Fran. He likes to brag about it having a big engine too.

But we have to look at comparable vehicles between gas & electric for new cars. Not enough old EV for comparison anyway.

Why? I can look at anything I wish. I like the idea of an electric car. The Chevy Bolt and the Tesla Model 3 are both going to be good cars I expect. That will be the dawn of all electric personal transportation. It will only get better from there.

My only concern is with the reliability of the Bolt. Not that Chevy can't make a good car. Just that it is new and I haven't heard anything about their warranty yet. The Teslas seem to have pretty good warranties.

Even my F150 gets right under 20MPG. At under $2.00 per gallon...

batteries lose capacity as they age/wear, it may be that end-of-life the battery only does 53 miles in good conditions.
