The kernel itself is the smallest circle in the middle. Next out are the installable/compilable hardware-level drivers. The next level is system services, daemons, mailers, file servers, etc. And then at the outside is the user-level, with user applications, communications frontends, GUI's, and that sort of thing.

Yep, but I wonder what the XP version looks like! Not so symmetrical I think.
