OT California is already the Green New Deal consequences

California has been shutting down fossil fuel and nuclear power plants for years, making up for the difference by purchasing power from neighboring st ates. But the current heatwave in the West has dried up (pardon the pun) th is Band-Aid solution, and the people are suffering, literally:

They're having a heat wave. What do you expect?

They're already 34% renewable. That's power they're not buying from out-of-state.

The problem is storage and over-use, not generation.

What I would expect, IF I were a resident (which I am not), it that they would have been PREPARED for a heatwave. Afterall, heatwaves are not unusual occurrences.

As I understand it, this heatwave WAS unusual.

Oh sure, blame it on the customer. The nerve of those unruly people, they expect to be able to use what they are paying exorbitant rates to purchase!

I read that the fires have forced the closure of a hydro-electric facility.

Yes, of course the consumer is to blame for his own consumption.

Insurance? What's that? Their phony insurance industry is hopelessly over e xtended, no way in hell can they indemnify the massive losses they're seein g. And the state is broke so no coming to the rescue from them. The state h as been mismanaged by idiots for the past 100 years so what do you expect. They not only allow but encourage unbridled growth without a whit of planni ng about things being anything less than prosperity. They're complete jacka sses.

California is a failed state because of decades of failed leadership. Now, the Dims want to export that failed leadership model to the rest of the cou ntry. You can move out of CA if you don't like it, but it is damn hard, but not impossible, to move out of the country.
