If a swarm forms indoors, suck them up with a dust buster vacuum cleaner - squirt some fly spray into the nozzle before switching off, otherwise they'll just fly back out again.

Now! Now! Be nice! The law simply says that in addition to the normal "show your driver's license" during a traffic stop or similar, UPON SUSPICION, because you can't produce ID, the officer can ask if you're a legal immigrant.

DDT works great. Don't worry about all that leftist anti-DDT "science"

- it's perfectly safe for humans. My uncle had an atomizer installed on this forced-air HVAC system so could just set-and-forget.

Personally I wouldn't so that. If it kills gnats I can't imagine it being harmless for pets etc.

Gnats are attracted to food but most of all to moist places. So make sure there is no "smellable" food anywhere and also that there are no indoor plants with very moist soil.

Do NOT do that! Some vacuums use the air from the vacuum outlet to cool the motor, and the motor has exposed brushes. The fact that 'fly spray' is usually flammable, and brushes spark, will help prove the big bang theory quite effectively!

RE: Illegal Immigration (er, "invasion") -- I would support yet another litmus test: If you pull someone over and they can't speak English, ask to see their birth certificate or passport (with valid entry visa)!!

And if they're here legally and can't speak English (doubly so if they can only speak Spanish!), deport them until they learn the language.

That goes for Florida too!

As for the gnats - bug spray. Plus, it helps if you can ID and remove their food supply. They don't eat much, so it can be a challenge...

Avon Skin-so-Soft is better than DEET stuff (Off) hands down. Used to go fishing down the off and deepwoods off and that seemed like it attracted the gnats. Switched to skin so soft and it went WAY down.

Also helps to puff a nice green cigar in the room. :)

I do remember homebrewing bugzappers in the late 1970's. As I remember, I could not find any light that was good at attracting gnats to their doom.

Then again, any that fly at night appeared to me to be attracted well to a F20T12B fluorescent lamp. The broader band spectrum appears to me to work better than BL, 350BL, and BLB. One more thing - I attracted more flying insects powering the lamp with DC than with AC.

But for attracting to their doom gnats other than ones endangering themselves with a nightlife - best I can think of is a nice warm cup of some sort of tea. It appears to me that they like moisture. If that does not work, then all I can think of for now is that the lower elevation Arozina heat and aridity will do them in sometime in May.

I might worry about the spray being flammable and getting to the sparking brushes in the motor.

Instead, I would put the dustbuuster in an oven and heat it to about
