Mental deficiency... probably a side effect of being a leftist weenie ;-)

Even apart from the research results, it would be amazing if secondhand smoke were not harmful. It consists of microscopically tiny tarballs that stick wherever they land, including the inside of the lungs, and contain an addictive drug (nicotine). (The point being that nicotine couldn't be addictive if it weren't absorbed and capable of affecting the body.)

She died of lung cancer, but I hadn't heard of it being caused by secondhand smoke. Whose, where?

In fact, it reminds me of the mantra, "Marijuana has never caused a death," which is equally false, but which some people think they can get us to believe by reciting it over and over.

Like the global warming activists ?:-)

I do call a privately owned business *private*. If you don't want to show there, you're welcome to go elsewheree. In this case

*PRIVATE CLUBS* are under the same rules.

Note: no answer.

No, you didn't. > It is exactly an issue of being _offended_.

It's not particularly dangerous either.

You really have no clue. Go back and reread what I've said. I don't smoke you retarded f*ck!

Keith

Fact.

No, fact.

Keith

Certainly. It works on the leftist (and apparently rightist) weenies. I think it should be a requirement in all state houses and congress!

Keith

Gee, then DON'T GO THERE YOU STUPID GIT! What a maroon.

...no comment, again.

Keith

Oh crap! Everythign is dangerous, even life. The question is of what magnitude. If you don't like smoke, live in a cave.

Yanik has made it perfectly clear that his objection is aesthetic and not related to health at all. Let him stay home.

I've been looking for a hotel room, sometime this summer, for a visit to see mother. Non-smoking rooms are ~50% more than smoking rooms in the same motel[*]. Do you think this should be illegal? Should the rejection of employment because one smokes be legal? How about rejection because one *doesn't* smoke? [*] If we decide to go and stay there I'll likely pay the money, though the last time they had no WiFi. !-\\

Keith

Should privately owned businesses be allowed to subject their employees to any hazard the employees want to accept (dangerous working conditions)? If not, why not?

Secondhand smoke is harmful to employees.

Where did you look for this evidence before concluding there wasn't any? I gather you have carefully reviewed dozens if not hundreds of high-profile medical research projects? What are your qualifications to perform this review? Bibliography, please.

Fine, only employ smokers.

Bullshit.

50% Premium? Where? Most of the hotels I stay in only have typically 2 rooms in the whole place for smokers. Rooms all the same price. BIG penalty for smoking in a non-smoking room... they have your credit card number... read the fine print... sometimes I've seen that they charge $900 cleaning fee if you do ;-)

Well, then you are wrong. If they are -open to the public-,then they are not truly private. Geez, how much in denial are you?

Peanuts are more easily avoided than BREATHING.

you just ignored it,because you disagreed with it.

Sez YOU. (You who are in denial. You own body tells you it's bad for you,and because of your addiction, you ignore it.)

He who resorts to name calling has already lost the debate.

Well, cigarettes DO cause a lot of fires, and kill people, some who don't even smoke.and I've seen the losses from fires in drought season, many that the authorities believe were started by smokers tossing their butts.

It's a filthy habit,smoking.

that may be true;I note that the leftists always demand THEIR 1st amendment right of free speech, but frequently shout down or otherwise try to suppress any conservative that tries to exercise their free speech.Rarely do conservatives "pie-attack" leftists during speeches.

It seems that conservatives have better manners, and actually support the Constitution better.
