Control VCR via SCART

Hi, Anyone know how to control a VCR i.e. play, record, stop via a scart plug. Thanks Mike

Some manufacturers have implemented a control system on Scart pin 8 to allow starting and stopping of VCR recording from another device. It is sometimes called "External link" or "smartlink" or "P50", basically a voltage on the pin will take the VCR out of standby and set it recording on that SCART's input, when the voltage goes away it stops and turns off.

This is somewhat manufacturer specific and not all VCRs will do it. What VCR are you trying this with?

I read in sci.electronics.design that snipped-for-privacy@easynet.co.uk wrote (in ) about 'Control VCR via SCART', on Mon, 19 Sep 2005:

There is no provision in the standard for such a function. It's possible that some products may have additional features that are not standard.
