No, I meant the CDF frequencies. The news stations are often not that helpful with this stuff.

But, you hit the nail on the head earlier: It was (finally!) announced a few minutes ago on one news station that the controlled burn north of us had "experienced an unforeseen wind shift". I wish they wouldn't control-burn such larges swaths all at once.

Whenever I turn off on 237 towards Moffett Field I have to roll up the windows and hold my nose. Beats me how all those guys at the Ericsson campus can stand that.

From the Grass Valley Union:

The smoke that western Nevada County residents could see and smell this morning was not from a local wildfire.

The Grass Valley Emergency Command Center said the smoke was most likely from a controlled burn in Amador County that was blown into the area overnight.

In addition, Calfire reported a controlled burn near Englebright Reservoir in Yuba County that was planned for Friday was started a day early. Smoke from that burn and several other agriculture burns in the area added to the conditions.

No, no - for heaven's sakes, don't call 911 - use the regular number, where you get the secretary or desk sergeant or whatever - the number you'd call to ask for a burning permit or fisning license. (not that they'd have any clue, but at least they probably work in the same building. ;-) ).

Here in the LA area, things are kinda mellowing out - maybe it's just a bunch of wet brush, that's so smoky because of the steam. I'm sure that if there was any kind of emergency, they'd be making reverse 811 calls, announcing evacuations on the bullhorn, and so on.
