John seems to be letting his irrational enthusiasm for the Republican Party over-ride his good sense.
Neither Biden nor Sarah Palin is deranged - they are both performing competently in situations that demand high level social skills.
Both seem to be tolerably intelligent. Sarah Palin doesn't know all that much - and a lot of what she does know doesn't seem to have much to do with the real world - which is why she's an appalling choice as a vice-presidential candidate and potential president. She's certainly prettier than Joe Biden, but this isn't usually regarded as an important qualification for occupying importatn political office.
Personal beauty does help when campaigning for high office, but it doesn't seem to help much in carrying out the duties associated with these kinds of jobs, and John Larkin's complaints about Joe Biden appearance do suggest that John has - once again - lost the plot.

Physically. In fact "cute" - in that sense - came from "acute", which means smart or perceptive, and Sarah Palin isn't nearly perceptive enough to qualify as a vice-presidential candidate, one melanoma away from the presidency.
She may be intelligent enough, but her perceptions are filtered through her fundamentalist-populist world view, and most of the real- world information gets thrown away as some kind of elitist flim-flam.
