Any good trade shows for electronics / embedded design in the central USA coming up this fall? I have about 2.5 weeks of vacation time saved, so I was wondering if anything is happening.

Well they hardly advertise at all (we wish) so I can see how you would be having a problem finding out the when/where/who....
Here are 2 of the sites I check for tech events. There are probably more since several of the EE magazines have a column with listings of upcoming events.
Specifically, for embedded systems check the Embedded Systems Programming magazine site:
The most obvious choice is the Embedded Systems conference in Boston, starting in a week (09/25):
.I suspect that Boston doesn't qualify as "the central USA", though. Being a left-coast type myself, everything east of the Rockies qualifies as "somewhere out east" in my books. ;-)
