I'm getting a growing interest in distributing power with component arrays. R's, C's, L's, mosfet arrays in parallel&series combinations with multiple banks etc.. A separate branch of electronics??

Anyways.. One new thing (I'm always a newbie) I noticed on

was the 2 chained (L form) inductor/mosfet sections. Or is it pi form.? All reminds me of high order filter design with passive RLC.

I'm curious about repeated L form inductor/ mos sections.. Let's say this is extended to a 3, 4 or 5 sections... Would such a circuit have benefits? Addressable inductor? Digitally controlled variable inductor? Maybe some fancy timing has some benefits... For example: Inductor 1 charges by mos 1 ...then inductor 2 charges by mos 2...then inductor 3 charges by mos 3...etc.. D from BC

Why don't you send this into EDN or one of the Semi manufactures (of mosfets) as an App note. I'm sure some one will take it for a few $$.

As it says those two inductors are actually a coupled inductor. The two are wound on the same core. It's done in that particular circuit so that when the mosfet is on it applies a reverse bias to the IGBT by transformer action of the inductor. I suppose the closest guess would be to call it an auto-transformer.

As to your other suggestions.... Well, without knowing where you might be going?

What the heck. However, if you carry on like this you are likely to find it hard working with other people. You are meant to start out inside the box along with everyone else so you can attend meetings with management where they talk about thinking outside of the box.

If you start outside the box and do your thinking there then no-one who is inside the box will understand what you are talking about even though they are being advised to think outside it. At that point life becomes frustrating..... Stick with it though.

Ooooooooooh, I might have to polish it a bit to do the EDN thing. Manufacturers seem singularly uninterested..... it's just like Don Lancaster says it is with the added disadvantage of me messing things up in the first place.

Never mind..... you saw it here first on SED.

We're all going to be famous! Exciting stuff :-)

Maybe not. Please email or call me.

That doesnt matter, Most publishers have ghost writers. They'll take your idea and present it professionally.

OK, I won't jump immediately because I'm such an insecure wimp but the germ is in my head.

Thanks

Busy. Wrote that one last night, worked 14 hours today, replied just a few minutes ago as soon as I got home.

You are, of course, whitelisted.
